The one with Shiny Somethings #1

Here are my shiny somethings for this week. (For those of you that don't know, a shiny is something cool and exciting that you are happy about, at least that's my interpretation for the purpose of this post!)

1. Our super swanky hotel room in Tenerife!!! **Example only**

Before you wonder why we paid out for such a fancy room (aside from the fact that it was awesome!) hear me out - so Oliver still goes to bed at 6 or 7pm at the latest and I see no reason why that should change in the next couple of months... which means that every evening we are basically going to be confined to our room so why not have a nice one ;-) In all seriousness, if we only had one room we wouldn't be able to watch TV or basically do anything without waking up the little prince. So thanks to my fabulous thinking, we decided that paying out for a suite with a separate lounge was not only fairly necessary if we want to enjoy our evening without disturbing Oliver but that the extra cost would be more than covered by the fact that we'll probably never be able to eat dinner outside the hotel at all anyway!

2. My Cake Decorating magazine

I literally <3 this magazine. As you can tell by my recent attempts at baking, the results aren't bad either (at least I hope you can tell that!) and the equipment you get as free gifts with every issue are fantastic, good quality and useful... not the useless junk these sort of subscriptions normally dump on you!

3. Birthday card organiser boxes

I think these boxes are a great idea - especially if you're not great at remembering those important dates (or if you're like me and remember them but just forget to buy and send the darn card in time!) There are 15 dividers to use as you choose, I have mine as the twelve months of the year plus Christmas and Anniversaries. I write all my important dates on the front of the dividers, write myself a list and and then go on a greetings card shopping spree!! I just put the cards behind the right dividers and *bam* I'm done for the year. Woohoo! Genius. I purchased my butterfly one here but I imagine many places do similar things. I tend to keep my address book and a book of stamps in there too but I'm just obsessive like that :-)

4. Boppy pillow

I purchased one of these this week after a few people recommended it to help with the sitting issue we've been having (FYI we have doctors appointment is next Thursday). I have to say, I really like this pillow (plus it'll double up for a nursing pillow next time round). It helps him to sit 'independently' (ie. with nothing up against his back which seems to be where we hit the problems) and doesn't offer *too* much support so he can't get lazy in it. Time will tell whether it actually helps him learn to sit independently but he likes sitting with it which I suppose is the main thing!

Why not join up your Shiny Somethings?
